MILK

Divine Council producer extraordinaire ICYTWAT just dropped his debut solo project MIlk and its full of smooth colorful bangers. One of my favorites so far is the hard hitting flex anthem “Z4 Music” Listen below.

Council World

$ilkmoney and the Council boys had a strong 2016 ending it with a cosign from the legendary Andre 3000. They look to build upon the hype by releasing $ilkmoney’s debut album I Hate My Life And I Wish People Would Stop Telling Me Not To. Here is what Silk told Complex about his album.

“The song is the first official track off of my project dropping later this year, I Hate My Life And I Really Wish People Would Stop Telling Me Not To. This project is for the people who are so depressed and so sad, so weary with life that they don’t even want to leave their room to use the bathroom, so they piss in the Deer Park water bottle next to your bed just to avoid seeing people all day. ‘D.A.N.’ is the introduction into the world of IHMLAIRWPWSTMNT.”

The song starts with the fast paced drums of Uk Garage but quickly trades them for booming 808’s after the intro. Listen below.

MY TOP 10 RAPPERS Of 2016

2016to2017.jpg

This is a list based solely on my personal opinion, eclectic taste in music, and who I listened to most this year. If you don’t agree or think I’m crazy I don’t care and you are right. Enjoy.

10. Famous Dex

famous-dex-beating-video

Dexter is part if the new wave of artist who’s music is entirely composed of energy. While some disagree with the “mumble rap” title given to artists like Dex I think its fitting and nothing to be ashamed of. They do mumble a lot, and it sounds great. With hits like “2 Times” “Drip From My Walk” and “Hit Em Wit It” combined with all the work he’s put in with Rich Forever captain Rich The Kid it was impossible to ignore Dex this year.

9. Lil Yachty

Burberry Yachty .jpg

Back in April when I first started this blog I wrote an article titled “Lil Yachty Is The Truth”. This was upon me first hearing his breakout tape “Lil Boat” and more specifically the song “Out Late”. Obviously a few idiots disagreed with me but Yachty’s output helped me prove them wrong, you can’t front on someone who puts out a 2X platinum single in 2016, when its nearly impossible to sell music. Yachty dominated the internet in 2016 as well as smashed numerous features and his “Summer Songs 2” mixtape. QC is damn near the new Mowtown at this point.

8. Lil Uzi Vert

lil-uzi-vert-grow-up-277x235

Uzi’s 2016 was probably one of the most high profile considering the placements and collabs he racked up. From the collab project with Gucci to records with Wiz Khalifa, Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj, ASAP Ferg, and the near flawless “Lil Uzi Vs The World” tape and now buzzing single “Do What I Want” Uzi and his mumble rap counterparts took my playlist by storm in 2016.

7. Divine Council

divine-council-1

I found about these kids this year and have been obsessed ever since. ICYTWAT, Lord Linco, $ilkmoney, and Cryax! have an undeniably fun chemistry that bleeds through every track they are on together or apart. Songs like “Cant Afford Me” “Council Shit”, “Dick In Da Dope” and “Decemba” were all the convinving I needed. While Divine Council is still pretty unknown to the masses the only other evidence I needed besides their great music is the cosign they received from the legendary Andre 3000. 3 Stacks isn’t just gonna do a song and direct a video for a group that has no talent or isn’t going to go anywhere. Opening up for Young Thug and 21 Savage on the HiHorsed Tour isn’t a bad look either. These kids are in for the long haul trust me.

6.21 Savage

21212121.jpeg

Drake wasn’t lying when he said 21 had all the juice earlier this year. While high profile collabs like “Sneakin” with Drizzy,”Offended” with Meek Mill and “X” with Future cemented 21 in the rap landscape. His solo work to me is what is really compelling. Songs like “Dip Dip”, “No Heart” , “Red Opps” and “Skrt” to me are a better look at what 21 has to offer. This man raps like a fourth grader who got called in class and its game changing, who would have thought?

5. XXXTENTACION

xxxtentacion-mug

My feature on X is one of the most popular articles on this blog and for good reason. X to me has the most potential to go really big out of anyone currently popular in the underground. Songs like “Look At Me” “I Love It When They Run” and “Yung Bratz” show the promise in XXXTENTACION’S unapologetically genre bending, and boundary pushing music. He will be free soon so look for X to fuck up 2017 properly.

4. Gucci Mane

gucci-mane-pick-up-the-pieces-video-01

I listened to more Gucci this year than I ever have in my life. Most likely because in his career which spans decades, he has been putting out some of the best music he ever has. His most recent jail stint has changed him all for the better and the music reflects that. “Everybody’s Looking” “Woptober”, “The Return of East Atlanta Santa” and “1017 Vs The World” are all in the top 10 of his best albums to me and they all dropped in 2016. Gucci fathered the style of most of the popular rappers out today and it was fitting that he received the attention and praise he deserved upon coming home.

3. Kodak Black

lil-kodak

As soon as I heard “Skrilla” by Kodak I knew there was something special about the kid. The work he put in the rest of the year proved that fact to me. Songs like “LockJaw” “Shit On Me”, “Vibin In This Bih”, and “Like Dat” are undeniable in my opinion. Having just been released from prison in a Gucci like fashion I’m sure Kodak has plenty of street stories to share come 2017. He’s one of the young legends to appear this year.

2. A Boogie

aboogie

Artists like A Boogie look to be the saving grace for those who claim New York is dying and has completely lost its identity in the rap world. Boogie’s style has that trademark New York grit combined with the ever popular vibing and melodizing that has taken over the game. Songs like “Macaroni”, “Friendzone, “My Shit”, “Bag On Me”, and “Timeless” should prove to anyone that A Boogie is here to stay.

1. Travis Scott

TravisScottLaflame.jpg

I have been thoroughly invested in Travis Scott since Owl Pharaoh and “Birds In the Trap Sing McKnight” showed his progression and command of his style that I wanted him to display. The album is damn near flawless to me and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. All Hail LaFlame.

#SMOKEDOUTSUNDAYS PLAYLIST

Loudpacks.jpg

This is a playlist of songs to I like to get high too. Burn one(or six) and enjoy!

  1. Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa “Rollin Up”

This used to be one of my anthems in my super stoner days(everyday). How Fly never fails.

2.BIG KRIT X A$AP FERG “LAC LAC”

This song just asks you to sit back and roll one “open your mind” the chorus softly chants.

3.Curren$y X Riff Raff “Froze”

Its Curren$y. Music meant to smoke to.

4. G Herbo Yea I Know”

You know I had to get Herb on here. Let the ethereal vocal sample of “Yea I Know” take you away and contemplate life.

5. A$AP ROCKY “Get Lit” ft Fat Tony

A classic smoking cut from Rocky’s debut tape. The leaned out vibes will have you feeling some type of way.

6. Divine Council “Cant Afford Me”

The Council Gang provides every kind of vibe from soft to aggressive. ICYTWAT’S ultra trancy production style and Cyrax’s soft crooning combine for an ultimate smoking joint.

7. Wiz Khalifa “Still Blazin”

Wiz is the sole reason behind why I smoke (I listen to rap too much). This song used to be on repeat for every sesh in high school. “Kush and Oj” will be forever classic in my eyes.

8. Chief Keef “Citgo”

“GBE da squad it just us we don’t need nobody,” in case you were wondering what he says. “Citgo” is a Keef classic and lends itself perfectly to laying back with a blunt full of Tooka.

9. Juicy J X Wiz Khalifa “Stoner’s Night Pt. 2”

The 2012 takeover of Wiz, Juicy and TGOD will forever be ingrained in my memory. This is a classic joint from Juicy’s ridiculous catalogue of drugged out anthems.

10. Wiz Khalifa “Up”

This is the highest most elevated song ever recoded in my opinion. Even when your not smoking it just takes you to that place. I feel like this is the closest that listeners will ever get to feel how Wiz feels all the time. Close your eyes and go Up.

DIVINE COUNCIL X ANDRE 3000 “DECEMBA” REMIX VIDEO.

Divine-Council (1).jpg

Divine Council has just blessed us with the visual for $ilkmoney’s “DECEMBA” featuring (and directed by) 3 Stacks. The  visual depicts the council awaiting $ilkmoney’s trial only to say fuck that and make a daring escape . Unfortunately Andre doesn’t make an appearance but his unreal verse and legendary narration at the end will have to suffice. Peep the Council’s biggest look below. These kids are the future, trust me.

DIVINE COUNCIL: $ILKMONEY VS CYRAX, “COUNCIL SHIT”

council-gang

The Council has been on a tear in 2016 especially since $ilkmoney and the gang were blessed with one of the few Andre 3000 verses to come out during the year. Tonight they drop of what seems to be the single from the highly anticipated collaborative tape “Silkmoney Vs Cyrax”. “Council Shit” is a rousing banger based on sub shaking 808 drums that drive the highly energetic chorus which sports $ilkmoney shouting “Ok lil bitch this that council shit so nigga just bounce to it.” While the chorus shapes this song as an anthem don’t sleep on $ilkmoney and Cyrax who both have respectable verses. This one is sure to make the crowd explode live. Check it out below.
